ECOTHERAPY

Ecotherapy is a recognition it makes no sense to try and heal ourselves without incorporating the ‘natural’ world, the other-than-human in that healing process – and that it is an interconnected process: it is the art of therapy incorporating an interconnected view of all things. You might wish to come to counselling/therapy for the usual reasons of life-problems and bring nature, interconnectedness –or disconnectedness into the counselling sessions, or you might want to start with nature and explore your own connections and disconnections and your feelings about the environmental crisis that we have/are creating.

Co-Workers

Working therapeutically out of doors can mean a number of things:

All, most or just occasional sessions can be out of doors, with appropriate safety and boundary issues taken into account. Locations can be discussed, within practical limits. I have access to beautiful river and woodland and upland areas. I have a small pop-up tent for wet weather. Outdoor sessions need to be arranged in advance.

Sessions can be simply talking within the environment; or walking, or making a den, skimming stones, relating to the other-than-human beings around, whatever you feel you need at the time.

The work can focus on whatever issues and difficulties have brought you to therapy, it can focus on your relationship with ‘nature’, both can weave together, whatever you feel you need at the time.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY SESSIONS OUT OF DOORS

We can offer workshops that are already designed, or we can work together to design an event that suits your needs.

Workshops can be very short – one to one and a half hours as part of bigger event, or they can be half day or several days.

We have designed workshops that are very safe and supportive and are designed to support people who feel vulnerable, fragile or fearful and for people who have limited energy and feel very depleted.

Day long or shorter workshops are available, suitable to be included as part of wider events.
